Since it’s just around the corner, 2025 might not be too long for some to wait. However, the 2024 model is already a solid choice, and if you need a big SUV now, then you need it now. What’s New for 2025?
We’ll start with the major updates that Chevy has already announced for the incoming Tahoe. We have specifics for some but only vague teasers for others. Nonetheless, it’s a really exciting year for the Tahoe, and we can’t wait to start receiving the 2025 models and dole out test drives.
A Much Bigger Touchscreen
This is a literally big deal. The 2025 Tahoe will have a 17.7-inch touchscreen. For reference, that’s bigger than some laptops. If you absolutely love the look of a massive screen in your vehicle, then you might consider waiting for the 2025 model because the largest touchscreen available for the 2024 model is 10.2 inches.
That’s still a lot of screen real estate, but if you’re something of a tech junkie and love having the best-in-class, most modern technology features, you might feel like you missed out if you got a 10.2-inch screen when an additional 7.5 inches were just within reach.
A More Powerful Engine
Chevy is improving the 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel engine for 2025. It will boast 10% more horsepower and 7.6% more torque compared to the 2024 model. So, if you are serious about feeling extreme power beneath the hood—the kind of power that makes trailering on an incline feel like a breeze—you might hold out for the 2025 model.
The new diesel engine will have a 10-speed automatic transmission, like the 2024 model. However, also new for 2025 is that, for the first time, this engine will be available on all trims, including the Z71. That means excellent off-roading capabilities paired with an impressively powerful engine. As an added perk, Chevy has introduced new sound absorption materials that allow you to enjoy all of that extra power without any extra noise.
A Redesigned Center Console
Do you like keeping lots of odds and ends nearby when you drive? Then, you might like the redesigned center console for the 2025 Tahoe. According to reports from Chevy, the new console will have “new storage options.” Considering the many convenient storage trays that already exist in the 2024 console, it will be exciting to see what this 2025 console looks like.
So, if you are someone who likes to have a dedicated place for everything, from snacks to sunscreen to charging cords, you could find it easier to get organized with the 2025 console. Plus, it has a more conveniently placed wireless charging pad for powering up devices like smartphones and tablets.
New Trailering Tech
The 2024 Tahoe is already known for its great trailering tech that aids you in hitching a vessel to your SUV and commanding it. The 2025 Tahoe takes things to another level with added features, including Trailer Tire Health, which monitors your tires to prevent blowouts, and Forward Path Indication, which provides guidelines on the Surround View monitor to help you understand the width and path of your trailer. Activate your turn signal, and you’ll see guidelines appear showing you the predicated turning path for your SUV and your vessel.
Also new for 2025 is Boat Ramp Assist. This gains you access to a checklist specifically designed for towing, launching, and retrieving your water-borne vessel. Especially useful for long-haul towers is Trailer Navigation, which finds routes that can accommodate your exact vessel based on its measurements.

Thanks to 13 available camera views, you’ll still have incredible command over your SUV and trailer. You can see behind your SUV, behind your trailer, inside your trailer, above your SUV and trailer, on either side of it, in front of it, and more. You can also choose how you see the footage, like split-view versus composite versus straightforward images.
Solid Trailering Tech
The 2024 Tahoe is still rich with trailering tech, even without the 2025’s updates. You’ll get pre-departure checklists that help you make sure important components of your SUV and trailer are communicating and in good health before you hit the road. You can create profiles in the in-vehicle trailering app for your various vessels and monitor tire pressure and temperature. If you don’t take long trips with a trailer, don’t tow a boat, and don’t navigate too tight of streets, you’ll get by without the 2025’s new trailering technology.
Power-Sliding Center Console
While we’ll be interested to see the newly designed console for the 2025 model, the 2024 one is already impressive. It has huge, adjustable storage areas, including surface and concealed trays. It slides back, giving second-row passengers easy access to it, too. And it always makes a nice place for you and your co-pilot to rest your elbows.
Available Rear-Seat Media System
Are you often traveling with kids? We know how eager they are to get out of the car, so you need to find ways to keep them entertained (and keep the tantrums at bay). That’s why we love that the 2024 model has an available rear-seat entertainment system.
