The 2024 Traverse Introduces a More Powerful Engine
Chevy has opted to go with a standard engine and transmission on all four models of the 2024 Traverse. Interestingly, the vehicle has gone from featuring a V6 engine to a turbocharged I-4. However, even though this is a smaller engine, it offers greater performance. This 2.5-liter turbocharged I-4 comes paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. This gives the new Chevy Traverse 328 hp and 326 lb-ft of torque, an increase in both outputs over that of the V6 gas engine on the 2023 Traverse. This gives the Traverse the ability to tow up to 5,000 lbs, making this one of the most versatile models in its three-row midsize SUV vehicle class.
The Traverse continues to be offered with a choice of front-wheel or all-wheel drive, except for the new Z71 trim that comes with all-wheel drive standard.
