In contrast, the 2024 Ram 1500’s base-level Tradesmen trim comes with a 305 hp V6 with just 273 lb-ft of torque. In order to rev things up, drivers will have to upgrade to Ram’s available HEMI V8 engine.

Okay, so you might have to upgrade the engine if you opt for the Ram 1500. Would it be worth it to have additional towing power? Comparing the numbers, it doesn’t look like it. Once again, looking at the two trucks side by side, the Silverado 1500 takes the lead. The Silverado is capable of towing 13,300 lbs thanks to its efficient and powerful Duramax 3.0L turbo-diesel engine and Chevy’s Max Trailering Package. The Ram 1500 is capable of towing 12,750 lbs. It’s impressive, but your best bet is always a Chevy when you need a serious truck capable of a big job.

Features Not to Be Missed

What about some key features? One perk of the Silverado 1500 that jumps out at us is its available Multi-Flex tailgate. The Silverado 1500 already features best-in-class standard cargo volume, but add a Multi-Flex tailgate on the back, and you get a truck with multiple load stops, a full-width step, and even a work surface for checking out blueprints, measuring, or just eating lunch in the field.

The Ram 1500 also boasts an advanced tailgate that swings outward more like a door than a rear gate. To some, this might be handy, but to others, it might just be awkward. The gate has received mixed reviews on this feature. It can also be folded down like a traditional truck tailgate. The Ram 1500 also includes a Trailer Hitch Light for convenience.

This hands-free driving technology lets you sit back and let Chevy take the wheel on more than 400,000 miles of roads across the US and Canada, with more being added every year.

Believe it or not, it gets better. Chevy’s Super Cruise is currently the only hands-free driving system with trailering abilities! This, combined with Chevy’s trailering app and cutting-edge safety features, makes towing not only safer but easier than ever.

The Ram 1500 isn’t quite there when it comes to hands-free driving, but it does have an available Adaptive Cruise Control feature. Drivers can use the system to maintain a safe distance between them and the vehicle they are following. Hey, it’s better than nothing, right?
