Supporting the four-cylinder engine is a Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT), which provides more perks than just fuel efficiency. If a collision is inevitable, another program—Automatic Emergency Braking—will kick in.
Automatic Emergency Braking provides extra reassurance on busy roads. This program detects if a vehicle in front of you stops abruptly and will provide hard braking to ensure the best possible outcome. If you are already braking, the program will assist so it is more effective. A similar feature—Front Pedestrian Braking—works much like the Automatic Emergency Braking but detects potential collisions with pedestrians instead.
The suite is rounded out with Lane Keep Assist With Lane Departure Warning, and Intellibeam. The first is a program that detects if you are leaving your lane unintentionally, and provides you with a warning. If oncoming traffic is detected, the latter turns off the high beams at night to avoid blinding the other driver. Intellibeam then kicks the high beams back on as soon as the vehicle has passed.
