The fifth-generation Chevy Tahoe has undergone a massive mid-gen refresh for the 2025 model year outing, reinvigorating the appeal of this full-size SUV. This is exciting news for anyone who has been considering buying a Tahoe as their next vehicle, especially if you're looking for a large transport with seating for up to nine people. But what do these new changes entail? It means a more pronounced style, all-new features, upgraded technology, and more powerful performance. The 2025 Chevy Tahoe offers plenty of ways for shoppers to indulge in this full-size SUV, thanks to all of the new features added to its lineup.

The Tahoe has received a new exterior and interior for 2025, including a bold front fascia, bringing it in line with the design language shared by other Chevy vehicles, like the Blazer, Trailblazer, and Silverado 1500. The Tahoe now has a striking and muscular grille design, accentuated with side inlets that connect to all-new C-shaped daytime running lights, and a very dynamic and expressive LED lighting array that helps make the Tahoe stand out from competitors like the Ford Expedition and Toyota Sequoia.

The interior alterations also see a more functional and streamlined cabin layout, including the all-new class-defining 17-inch HD touchscreen and trailering apps. The 2025 Tahoe also sees a significant performance boost in the Duramax Turbo-Diesel, receiving a buff in its horsepower and torque output for better performance and more reliable towing with the Tahoe. This is in addition to lots of refinements made to the handling and technology to improve driver assistance and trailering. You can get the 2025 Tahoe across six different trims, starting with the LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, and High Country.

    Power, Utility, & Handling

The 2025 Tahoe is available in rear- or four-wheel drive. Its performance updates start with the 3.0-liter Duramax Turbo-Diesel, which has seen an increase in both horsepower and torque compared to the outgoing model year, now sporting 305 hp and 495 lb-ft of torque, which is a 9% increase in horsepower and a 7% increase in torque. The Duramax is joined by two other powertrain options, including a 5.3-liter Ecotec3 V8 that makes 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque and a 6.2-liter Ecotec3 V8 that makes 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. All three engines are mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The Tahoe is capable of towing a great deal of cargo thanks to a multi-link independent rear suspension and improved steering calibrations. With the 5.3-liter Ecotec3 V8, you can tow up to 8,400 lbs, while the 6.2-liter Ecotec3 V8 and 3.0-liter Duramax can tow 8,200 lbs; this is convenient whether you're towing a trailer for a camping trip or a medium-sized boat for a vacation by the lake. Add the Max Trailering Package for an integrated trailer brake controller, a high-capacity radiator and cooling fan, and accompanying trailering tech, such as Hill Descent Control and Hitch View, the latter of which allows you to monitor your trailer and ensure the vehicle and trailer are safely level on the road.

Additionally, the Tahoe comes with stability management systems and electronic traction control in the form of StabiliTrak, which is buffed by a few other handling systems. First is the Air Ride Adaptive Suspension (available for the Z71, RST, and High Country trims), providing automatic load-leveling and ride-height adjustments depending on the speed of the vehicle and driver-selectable controls. Second is the Magnetic Ride Control (standard on the Premier and High Country and available on the RST and Z71), providing electronic damping via sensors to ensure you have the smoothest ride possible, with reduced body roll, reduced sway, and reduced vibrations.

    Exterior Outfitting

The refreshed exterior of the 2025 Tahoe boasts stylistic changes that embody Chevy's latest design language for their lineup; this includes the all-new grille design that exemplifies the Tahoe's muscular characteristics, as well as functional elements for going off-road. For instance, the Z71 trim has a utility-rich bumper, a front skid plate on the undercarriage, and dual red tow hooks.

You also have brand-new wheel designs for the Tahoe, which span from 18-, 20-, and 22-inch aluminum wheels all the way up to the brand-new 24-inch aluminum wheels that are available for the RST and High Country for the very first time. These accent the other exterior changes made to the Tahoe, which include the all-new daytime running lights, featuring sleek new layouts for the top lights and large C-shaped designs leading from the grille to the bumper. Also, two new exterior colors join the palette options: Cypress Gray and Lakeshore Blue Metallic. You'll appreciate them more with the all-new welcome and walk-away light-up animations and animated turn signals.

    Interior Accouterments

Inside, the 2025 Tahoe has undergone some notable changes, including a brand-new steering wheel design and layout, which includes plenty of media control buttons and accessibility located directly on the steering wheel. Additionally, the center console has been redesigned to make it easier to access everything from the infotainment deck to the storage pockets located throughout the cabin. As for cargo, you have 25.5 cu.ft. behind the third row, 72.6 cu.ft. behind the second row, and 122.9 cu.ft. with both the second and third rows folded down.

You have standard comfort features to make the ride relaxing and inviting, thanks to soft-touch materials throughout the cabin, combining nicely with interior Victory Red stitching on the RST and available wingtip perforated leather seating upholstery for select trims with authentic wood accents. Power front seats with lumbar support and heated functionality also add a lot of appeal to the Tahoe for convenience and comfort when it comes to long travels.

    Connectivity Equipment

The Tahoe's tech offers a wide range of functions, providing drivers and passengers alike with a lot to sink their teeth into. The Tahoe has an all-new infotainment layout featuring an upgraded touchscreen, going from 10.2 inches to an impressive 17 inches. This accompanies a customizable digital driver display, which gives you telemetry, vehicle health data, and media access. However, if you opt for one of the upper-end trims, you can get a head-up display (HUD) that projects drive data on your windshield, so you don't have to take your eyes off the road.

The infotainment center also provides you with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, featuring phone projection and the ability to access your media playlists, apps, and podcasts. Additionally, you can use the infotainment stack to use trailering apps and get multiple camera views of the trailer, along with trailer tire health and forward path indication. There is even trailer navigation support to help you route to your destination safely and quickly, along with boat ramp assist to help you with loading, unloading, and launching from a trailer. Additional safety measures include blind zone steering assist with trailering support, so you can use the cameras to see vehicles on your blind side while trailering.

    Driver Assistance Tools

Every 2025 Tahoe comes standard with the Chevy Safety Assist, featuring automatic emergency braking, lane change assistance, lane departure warnings, front pedestrian and bicyclist braking, and enhanced automatic parking assist. The available HD Surround Vision allows you to see where the vehicle is in alignment with the road and if there are any objects nearby. You also get My Recordings w/ Live View, empowering you to record and store camera data in the cloud, as well as OnStar support and connected services for navigation and emergency aid. Other conveniences include the AutoSense power liftgate as well as features like Teen Driver mode for added safety and parental control.

The added support with the myChevrolet app also means you have vehicle health, location data, and remote access on your smartphone, as well as multi-zone climate control, remote start, remote power locks, and other security features. You can stay connected via the 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, and you can exploit Bluetooth wireless streaming and voice-command pass-through to control key features of the 2025 Chevy Tahoe without lifting a finger. All of these features help make the Tahoe a tech-rich experience for those who want a robust full-size SUV.
